Top 10 superhero movie endings

This list is a ranking of my favourite superhero movie endings.

Please note: This is not counting the final battles(e.g Endgames's portal scene), just merely the last 2-4 minutes of the film. This also excludes post-credits scenes.

With that being said, here is a list of the top 10 superhero movie endings, in my opinion:

#10: TMNT(2007)

Raph, in this interpretation, carried the moniker 'The NightWatcher' throughout the film.

Over the course of the runtime, he is reminded that he needs his brothers as much as they need him and decides to retire his lawful alter-ego to re-join Leo, Donnie and Mikey for one last patrol of New York City.

#9: Bumblebee

After defeating Shatter and Dropkick, Charlie Watson realises that Bumblebee needs to go find Optimus and the other Transformers.

In a emotional farewell, both Charlie and Bumblebee say goodbye to each other. The movie closes with Bumblebee and Optimus reunited, driving across the Golden Gate Bridge with Simple Minds' 'Don't You' playing in the background.

#8: JOKER

Probably the most ambiguous ending in superhero film history. Arthur Fleck went from being the victim of Gotham City to the victor, or did he?

The film quickly cuts to Arthur laughing in Arkham State Hospital as scene that almost mirrors perfectly the opening scene where he was talking with his psychiatrist. The film ends in the most Joker way possible with Arthur dancing out of the room with blood on his shoes, running away from two orderlies while Frank Sinatra's 'That's Life' plays, ending the film.

#7: Unbreakable

David Dunn is puzzled as to why a man with brittle bone disease singles him out over everyone else. During the film, we see Dunn and Price meeting each other a few times. Elijah can not get over the fact that David was only man to survive a train bombing.

There is no M.Night Shyamalan film without a humungous plot twist, this film is no different. As David shakes Elijah's hand, it is revealed that Elijah was the man behind the horrific train incident. He done it, looking for a person who had the polar opposite to his weak, brittle bones, David was indestructible.

The film ends with Elijah stating that people called him Mr. Glass, unknowingly hinting at the 2 other films to come.(SPLIT and GLASS)

#6: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2

One of the most colorful and heart warming endings of the entire MARVEL Cinematic Universe. The funeral of Yondu concludes this film. Yondu sacrificed himself for Star-Lord. Upon witnessing that Peter Quill came to the realisation that Yondu was his father figure he yurned for all his teen to adult life.

Peter is then given a MP3 player, since his Walkman was destroyed by Ego, The Living Planet. Groot and Quill share two earbuds as they listen to Cat Stevens' 'Father & Son'. While that song is playing, Yondu is cremated and his ashes are spread into space. Rocket, with a tear rolling down his cheek, watches the celebration of Yondu's life as the film cuts to black.

#5: Into The Spider-Verse

This film is 1 hour and 56 minutes of pure cinematic beauty.

Even under the mask, Miles shows that he is just a kid deep down. The Miles from the start of the film is still far different from the one at the ending though. He bravely took on the Kingpin while in the dimesion collider.

After leaving the building, he receives a phone call from his dad, Police Officer Jefferson Davis. Upon hanging up the phone, he confronts his dad, while in his costume to say he loves under the moniker of Spider-Man.

The film ends with Miles swinging through New York, confidently. Stating 'Anyone can wear the mask.'

#4: Spider-Man 2

Throughout the film, Peter is treated like dirt by almost everyone he knows. Until the end, where Mary Jane leaves John Jameson and decides to be with Peter.

Police siren can be heard in the background as Miss Watson tells Peter to 'Go get 'em, Tiger.'

Suited up, Peter leaps out of his appartment window, swinging full of joy and happiness after a long time of turmoil.

Mary's smiled quickly fades as she knows that being with Peter, although makes her happy, puts her in immense ammount of danger if Spider-Man's foes know find out his secret identity.

#3: Batman Begins

My favourite of the Nolan trilogy.

This ending, although bad-ass, is still yet another somber one, with real life tragedies encased.

As Jim Gordon lists of what a major criminal has done in the past, he hands Batman a playing card.

The simple flip of a card, revealing Joker was quite chilling in of itself. But knowing what happened during the making of the sequel, made that scene even more monumental.

The movie ends with Batman gliding toward the camera, cutting to the title.

#2: LOGAN

The absolute best Wolverine/X-Men film.

The large majority of this film is immensely depressing. Seeing Wolverine suffering in his old age was heartbreaking.

During the conclusion of this film, Logan is impaled through the heart. With only mere minutes to live he spends them with his daughter, X-23. Holding her hand, he slowly passes away.

She then positions his headstone into an 'X'.

The immortal man has become mortal.

#1: Avengers: Endgame

I, honestly, did not cry when Tony Stark died. I was shocked. But as soon as it was revealed that Steve Rogers grew old after going through the Quantum Realm to drop off the Infinity Stone back to where they belong, I balled my eyes out!

I was a huge of Captain America. Chris Evans performance in the First Avenger got me into liking  the character.

It was bittersweet seeing Steve Rogers retire being Captain America to Falcon.

The waterworks didn't end at seeing Steve as an oldman, no. They kept going when I saw that he finally went back to spend the remainder of his time with Peggy.
