My A to Z of movies
Recently, I saw BigPauly's and Jamie Powell's videos where they both listed off their favourite films for every letter of the alphabet(Highly, recommend subscribing to both of them).
Since then, I have been inspired to make my own list. I have included a brief opinion on all 26 listed films
I tried my best to stray away from big blockbuster titles.
Quite a few will have already been listed on this blog via other lists such as the 'Top 90 films from 2010-2019' list I done last year.
Upon completing the list, I realised that Hailee Steinfeld was the only star who appearred three times.
With that being said, I give to you, my A to Z of movies:
A for 'Adventures In Babysitting'
I first saw this on Disney+ during April 2020.
It was an okay film, Elizabeth Shue's performance was the only highlight of it.
B for 'BumbleBee'
I first saw this during my first day as a Cineworld Unlimited Card Holder, 16th December 2018.
Perhaps the only enjoyable and amazing live-action Transformers film.
(The first Hailee Steinfeld film on this list)
C for 'Colombiana'
I first saw this early last year.
I was mainly interested because of Zoe Saldana, everything else just seemed generic and quite bland.
D for 'Director and The Jedi'
I first saw this in 2018.
I have always loved The Last Jedi, and seeing this made me love it even more.
(It's a feature lenghth documentary, btw)
E for 'Edge of Seventeen'
I first saw this on BBC IPlayer last year.
Hailee Steinfeld and the soundtrack were by far the best parts of this.
(The second Hailee Steinfeld film on this list)
F for 'Fighting With My Family'
I saw this during a advanced screening in February 2019.
I was very skeptical going into this, as I knew about the career of the actual Paige.
But, I was wrong to be skeptical and since watching this, I have become a big fan of Florence Pugh.
G for 'Green Book'
I first saw this back in February 2019.
If it wasn't for the advanced screening of FWMF, this would've been #1 of that month
Fantastic film
H for 'Her'
One of two films I saw during May 2020.
Perfect performance by Joaquin Phoenix
Beautiful cinematography
I for 'In Darkness'
I saw this in 2018.
Natalie Dormer's performance of a blind pianist was exceptional although everything else about the film was a little slow and dragged quite a bit
J for 'Jay & Silent Bob Reboot'
This was the very first film I rented digitally.
I was looking forward to seeing this and it did not disapoint
K for 'Katy Perry: Part of Me'
I saw this twice in cinemas back in 2012
One of my all-time favourite documentaries
One of my all-time favourite female music artists
L for 'Lion'
This was the other film I saw during May 2020
I was interested in watching this as the cinematographer behind Rogue One done this too
Excellent film but also immensely dark and quite depressing throughout
M for 'Mallrats'
This was the first Kevin Smith film I saw
He truly is a talented writer and director.
N for 'NightCrawler'
This was the first full film I saw on my first projector.
It was on BBC IPlayer.
Amazing performance by Jake Gyllenhaal, great film
O for 'Onward'
One of the last films I saw in the cinema before the temporary closure of Cineworld
Absolutley brilliant film, a certified tear jerker
P for 'Paper Towns'
Another one of the first films I saw on my first projector
Cara Delivinge was great, loved the story and ending
Q for 'Queen & Slim'
My #1 film from February 2020
Excellent soundtrack, heartbreaking and brutal ending
R for 'Rocketman'
I saw this during a Unlimited screening back in May 2019
My #1 film of May 2019
This film, honestly, made me listen to Elton John's music almost religiously for over a year, still do
S for 'Split'
I saw this after seeing Glass first, the Unbreakable.
Brilliant performances by James McAvoy and Anya-Taylor Joy
This maybe my favourite of the three films
T for 'True Grit'
I saw this in early 2019.
Decent western, great performances all-round
(The third and final Hailee Steinfeld film on this list)
U for 'UnderWater'
#4 in the films I saw during February 2020
Decent horror, but shows the aliens too much that it becomes more of a action film
Kristen Stewart was amazing
V for 'Valerian'
I saw this in late 2017
Visually stunning at times, dull story, good performance by Cara Delevinge
W for 'Watchmen'
My #1 favourite DC film
Zack Snyder is an amazing director
Brilliant dark imagery
X for 'XXX'
I honestly struggled to think of something for X
This seemed like the only film I could put that wasn't a big blockbuster, that I have saw
Y for 'You Were Never Really Here'
I saw this after seeing JOKER back in October 2019
Loved his performance in this
Beautiful cinematography, especially during the lake scene
Z for 'ZombieLand'
One of my favourite zombie as well as comedy films.
I prefer this over the sequel because it was honestly more entertaining, even though I do like both
I honestly had to look to my Blu-Ray collection for suggestions for almost half of it. I own A, B, C,F ,H, K, N, P, S, V and W
